ONE DEATH IS TOO MANY.=================================2011-2020 UNITED NATIONS DECADE OF ACTION FOR ROAD SAFETY https://www.facebook.com/roadsafetydecade With this Global Road Safety Advocacy Movement:, we want to help save 5,000,000 lives from merciless Road Accidents all around the globe that only destroys dreams and devastates families in every imaginable way possible. Based on MMDA Statistics (Road Safety Department), there have been 3,047 Fatalities (2005 - 2013) in Metro Manila alone with the infamous EDSA & Commonwealth Killer Highways racking up 13%. This 9 Year Total Fatalities include all types of Road Users (4Wheel Vehicles + Motorcycles + Pedestrians + Cyclists) Out of 3,047 Deaths, there were 196 CYCLIST FATALITIES in Metro Manila could have saved breadwinners, daughters, & sons from a cruel & untimely death. With the severe lack of Road User Segregation, we face the horror of 2 CYCLIST DEATHS PER WEEK in the menacing streets of the behemoth city of Metro Manila. Sadly, we lost the brave SAF 44 in the fateful Maguindanao incident. But it is even more riveting to lose 196 BREADWINNERS to a senseless and avoidable Road Crash while riding a bicycle to their workplace. With this Philippine Movement, we are stepping up to support the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020 as declared by the United Nations, World Health Organization, Global Road Safety Partnership, and the International Federation of Red Cross & Red Crescent Societies. With blessings from their families, we started this campaign in their honor and to all the countless fatalities in Metro Manila who have lost their dreams in an instant. IN OUR FIGHT FOR ROAD SAFETY, YOUR HELP WILL BE MOST VALUABLE. ================================= THE CHALLENGE Mayor Bloomberg, New York City Bill Clinton, Former U.S. President "Unless we take vigorous steps now, traffic fatalities are expected to overtake HIV / AIDS, tuberculosis, & lung cancer to become the 5th Leading Cause of Death globally by 2030" ================================= UNITED NATIONS & WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION GLOBAL KILLER : ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS https://www.facebook.com/roadsafetydecade "United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety" (2011 - 2020) was declared jointly by the United Nations, the World Health Organization and its multi sectoralpartnerships which collectively acknowledge that Road Accidents is a systemic Global Killer with these shocking statistics: 1) 1.23+ Million Fatalities per year (3,288 per day, 137 per hour, 3 per minute) > 1.13 Million Fatalities (91.49%) Low-Income Countries = 517,096 Middle-Income Countries= 611,887 > 804,938 Fatalities (65.23%) Vulnerable Road Users (Motorcycle, Cyclists, Pedestrians) 35.77% (441,463) = Drivers & Passengers of 4 Wheel Vehicles 16.35% (201,760) = Drivers & Passengers of 2-3 Wheel Vehicles 27.14% (334,919) = Pedestrians 7.32% (90,292) = Cyclists & Bicyclists 13.43% (165,693) = Other & Non Specified Road Users 2) 50+ Million Injuries per year (137,000 per day, 5,700 per hour, 95 per minute) > TOP 1 Cause of Death (Global) ----> 15 to 29 Age Bracket > TOP 9 Cause of Death (Global) ----> TOP 5 by Year 2030 > TOP 7 Cause of Death (Middle Income Countries) > TOP 4 Cause of Death (Philippines) =================================   FiVE CONGRESSIONAL BILLS = FIVE POTENTIAL LAWSFiVE PHILIPPINE LEGISLATORS (16th Congress)                               Emi Calixto-Rubiano (Pasay) + Karlo Alexei Nograles (Davao) Mark A Villar (Makati) + Walden Bello (Manila)Samuel D.
