New Jersey Senate Bill 2934 recently passed, creating a "Public Use Airports Task Force" to investigate "infrastructure initiatives and transit programs", and develop "recommendations for the growing aerospace industry". The 18 member committee does not include a public health specialist, an environmental scientist, or an urban planner, failing to acknowledge the detrimental effects of airport emissions on public health and climate change.
We demand that any change in transit policy be critically analyzed in terms of environmental and public health costs. We want the New Jersey government to be accountable and transparent.
We would like a comprehensive environmental and public health analysis to be conducted regarding the collective impact of the Trenton Airport proposed terminal expansion. This includes: the terminal expansion itself, the runway protective zone, and the anticipated increase of vehicular traffic.
We are concerned about the effect of the expansion on wildlife, farms, open space, human health, and home values. We are alarmed that the 2018 actual flight volume has already exceeded the 2035 flight estimates presented to the community. We demand transparency, accurate information, accountability, and public input.
