Support Urban Farms in Boston!

Boston, Massachusetts is home to several urban farms, including sites in Roxbury, Dorchester and Mattapan. Situated on once-vacant and decaying lots filled with trash, these urban farms produce bountiful harvests. Low-income communities in Boston now have access to locally grown tomatoes, kale, garlic, beets, onions, arugula, carrots, and other natural, healthy produce. Not only do urban farms offer people living in low-income neighborhoods access to fresh and healthy food, these farms offer several other benefits for people and the environment. Urban farms act as large sponges that absorb stormwater, keeping runoff out of the sewer system and waterways. Urban farms also create jobs and foster more liveable neighborhoods. To build and maintain urban farms in Boston, we need the support of local community members like you. Stand up and support Boston’s urban farms!

Stop the Sale of Public Land!

Public lands constitute much of what’s left of the nation’s natural and historical heritage — lands that protect our drinking water, provide wildlife habitat, and offer people the chance to connect with nature through camping, hiking, fishing, and more. Yet earlier this year, several members of the U.S. House of Representatives put forth three bills that would allow states to take control of federal lands — including up to 2 million acres of national forests — and auction it off for mining, clear-cut logging, drilling and road construction, with no regard for environmental protection. We can’t sit by and let our lands be destroyed.  Please join us and take a stand for public land. By adding your name to this petition, you will let your elected representatives know that you are watching their actions—and that the American public fully supports the protection and preservation of our public lands. Rather than selling off the lands we all own, our leaders should find ways to protect the places that make America special. Add your name to protect public land!
