Petitioning Javier Palomarez, President/CEO of USHCC

HISPANIC CHAMBERS NOT FOR SALE

Dear Board Members of the USHCC, On behalf of the NYSCHCC 26 chambers, we are writing about the Q&A session scheduled on October 8, 2015 with presidential candidate Donald Trump.  The NYSCHCC, as members in good standing of the USHCC, are taking a stance against the USHCC allowing Donald Trump a forum to speak at the Q & A session.  We are receiving political backlash and have been asked if New York supports the decision of the USHCC.  We want it rightfully noted that the NYSCHCC does not agree or endorse the USHCC actions allowing Donald Trump a forum to speak at the Q & A session.  This session does not appear to be impartial as none of the other candidates have been invited to participate and the actions of USHCC can be misconstrued and interpreted as a show of support in favor of presidential candidate Donald Trump. We commend Javier Palomarez, President/CEO of USHCC for taking on the position of a peacemaker, continuing to demonstrate his great leadership skills, however, it is disturbing to see that the he met with Trump last Tuesday. We cannot continue to overlook the actions of Trump, who continues to stir antagonism within much of the Hispanic community, with his racist rhetoric as well as the forceful outbursts of his staff against members of the Latino media and peaceful protesters.  It is time to start noting the actions of Trump’s head of security, Keith Schiller, against Jorge Ramos of Univision, who was forcefully ejected out of an Iowa news conference in Dubuque and the more recent brutality against Efrain Galicia, who was peacefully practicing his right to demonstrate. We are proud members of the USHCC and wish to continue being members, but this is a sensitive issue for our membership and would like for it to be addressed.  We are asking the USHCC to reconsider its decision offering Donald Trump a political platform that lacks the ability to elude impartiality. Sincerely, The NY State Coalition Hispanic Chamber of Commerce The Hispanic Chambers of Commerce of San Francisco The Nicaraguan American Chamber of Commerce The Guatemalan American Chamber of Commerce The Bay area Central american Chamber of Commerce The Latin American & Caribbean Chamber of Commerce The NYC LGBTQS Chamber of Commerce
