Parking Perks : Bikes or Cars ?? ( Road Situation, KTM, Nepal )
Why not seize cars that are parked wrongfully in the roads ?? - ( KTM, Nepal ) #NepalSITUATION -06/11/2018, Kathmandu. Today we witnessed a situation that most bike riders in Kathmandu have either seen or dealt with. Some traffic officers with the help of city officials from the metropolitan city office were “ Kidnapping “ bikes and scooters from the main roads because they were parked in a no-parking space and were “blocking” traffic. Along with those bikes were miscellaneous goods seized from street vendors that have difficulty surviving the day through. Common sense suggests that illegally parked vehicles must be fined along with street businesses that “ruin“ our walking space, but if you’ve been here for the past 20 years and witnessed some sh*t then let me ask you, if our common sense is working ?? Or are we just dumb ?? In this situation, Cars have a different story all together, they don’t get fined quite as often as bikes do in wrongful parking cases or any other cases really, Why ?? Because bikes are “convenient” to pick up and goods are easy to seize from people who can’t complain to the proper authority. When We started working on this, the main reason was that wrongfully ( “illegally“ ) parked private cars were spared today by traffic officers and city officials while 6 bikes were seized just because more couldn’t fit in. Also while we started working on this issue we were told that many vendors lost some of their goods after they were seized and some people had their bikes damaged. We’ve all certainly met someone whose bike was taken away and fined only to be driven by the traffic officer who first gave the fine. We get that bikes and scooters are convenient just like hard working street vendors but if you’re going to preach equality then maybe make sure you aren’t sitting on top of a goddamn mountain and really make sure that everyone EVERYONE is treated with Justice. So, shall we hope that they either take all that’s parked wrongfully or leave everyone alone ?? ( Talk to Us if you’ve noticed an issue like this and have something to share. ) ( P.S. let’s try and be civil about this discussion rather than jumping to conclusions, suggest if corrections are to be made. Thank You. ) Update Forum : #Comment .1 : Just as Mr. Suroj experienced this situation has been compelled onto citizens by not providing proper parking space by the concerned authorities within the Government System of Nepal. #Comment .2 : By Mr. Ritesh Shrestha ( Via Facebook ) : Also I have seen many time that cars rarely get into Ma Pa Se checking whereas bikes has to be checked compulsory. Y is that so? As if bikers are uncivilised and break rules. Why traffic police dnt bother to check the one driving cars?? someone I know who owns a car once told me that they wont need to worry about Ma Pa Se because they won't even get checked. And so many bikers who works whole day at office , tired and exhausted need to pass the test almost every evening while going home. And one car holder enjoying cocktail at lounge bar can drink and drive with no checking at all. Our society...
Red Lights maintenance in Nepal
RED LIGHTS and what they mean to NEPAL I do not solely hold any traffic, politician or transportation authority responsible for this situation but I do hold responsible the good people that should have fought for the nation and the rights of its people. I cannot remember the number of times I've had to make an excuse because of traffic delay in our capital city. Today we'll look into Why that is. At first sight this may look simple enough. There are many cars and many public vehicles that cause roads to jam but is it really more complicated than that. we blame it on the less number of traffic officers or the increasing number of vehicles, but those entirely are not the reason. The traffic signals around and within the capital city should've been working but seem to be powered off.In a nation where 1 billion rupees can be asked additionally for the budget to sustain local level developments it seems money isn't the matter either. Where are the developments made if they are not helping better the lives of every Nepali citizen. It's known that traffic jams occur everywhere in the capital due to poor road quality but what about the quality of road services that are already made but have been lacking proper authority to maintain. Who is the one that upholds the road rules that have been added. We individually may not face these traffic jams everyday but there are people who will suffer deeply due to this situation and someday we too will have to pay the price for caring less. There are traffic officers working in this hard sun everyday through these jams and yet they are the ones that this blame has been shifted to. It is not possible for a traffic officer to work instead of traffic lights in this kind of a situation but that seems to be the core of the problem, the people responsible for this problem aren't being pointed out or investigated while hard working citizens and traffic offices are made to face the harsh reality of traffic in Nepal. situation. If we really want to build a smart city or a country we first need to address and solve the problem that is making us dumb. Is this what the value of our education has come down to ?
