We Have No Confidence In Keir
Starmer As Labour Leader
Never has this country needed a strong parliamentary opposition more than now as we face the effects of a global Pandemic. Keir Starmer is failing to provide that opposition. He has failed to hold this government to account and is presiding over a Labour Party that has no vision, no policies and is riven with division. We call upon Keir Starmer to resign as Labour leader to pave the way for a new leader who can unite the party, hold the Tories feet to the fire and offer a bold, transformative vision for voters to get behind.
The BBC must air an interview of Boris Johnson by Andrew Neil ASAP.
Please click to view the BBC tweet below. BBCTweet Broadcasting rules are very strict around political balance, but that becomes even more important in the run up to a General Election where bias can influence how someone might vote. Therefore the fact the BBC chose not only to record, but to air an interview of Jeremy Corbyn by Andrew Neil, before receiving a firm commitment from Boris Johnson to also subject himself to equal scrutiny, has shocked and horrified members of the viewing public who fund the BBC through our licence fee. We are now in the section of the campaign where postal votes are being cast, which means equality of scrutiny is not just important, but essential. The longer it takes for Boris Johnson to agree to an interview, the less impact it will have on votes. His decision to pull out of debates is different, because either the leader of the opposition cannot appear either, or his absence becomes glaringly obvious. That's not the case with interviews aired on different days. Trust in the BBC is at record lows. In this GE campaign alone we have had two examples of edited footage that appear to favour Boris Johnson. To have now aired an interview with the leader of the opposition without first securing an equal and timely commitment from the Prime Minister, is sending trust levels spiralling even lower. Only a Boris Johnson interview aired within the next day or so, could possibly restore some of that lost trust. The pressure is now on the BBC to ensure this happens!
SKY NEWS: CHANGE THE ELECTION BANNER FROM
BREXIT ELECTION TO GENERAL ELECTION
Every day Sky News carry the banner 'The Brexit Election'. This is NOT a Brexit election. A vote just about Brexit would be another EU referendum. This is a General election, which means people are voting on a whole raft of issues such as austerity, housing, the NHS, wages and climate change. The government want it to be framed as a Brexit Election because they believe it gives them the strongest chance of winning and because they are weak on policy, therefore we suspect Sky News are trying to circumvent impartiality rules by using this 'Brexit Election' banner. We do not believe Sky News should be framing this election as being solely about Brexit and call on them to use the correct banner 'The General Election'.
Cessation of TV paper reviews during General Election campaigns.
Broadcasting media must be seen to be completely impartial at all times, but particular sensitivity must be applied during the run up to a General Election campaign in what is commonly referred to as the Purdah period. However newspaper reviews are a way to circumvent these rules because our print press is overwhelmingly biased towards the Conservative party and it brings this pro Conservative propoganda into the TV studios for the publics consumption, every single evening. The panelists who are invited on to pass comments on the days headlines, are often not balanced either. We, are calling for a cessation of all newspaper reviews during the General Election campaign. Please stick to reporting on the news, not a right wing newspaper's take on it.
Jeremy Hunt must apologise for linking Jeremy Corbyn to the Holocaust
We believe Jeremy Hunt is weaponising antisemitism in the most vile way possible by linking Jeremy Corbyn, a life long anti racist who has publicly condemned antisemitism on numerous occasions, with Hitler and the atrocities that Jewish people endured and suffered during the Holocaust. His exact quote was: “When I went to Auschwitz I rather complacently said to myself, ‘thank goodness we don’t have to worry about that kind of thing in the UK’ and now I find myself faced with the leader of @UKLabour who has opened the door to antisemitism” By implying Corbyn is the next Hitler, he is deliberately and cynically fanning the flames of fear about a Corbyn led Labour government amongst Jewish people to enhance his chances of winning a General Election. It is notable that he shows no concern over the fact his opponent in the Tory leadership contest is an Islamophobic, racist, but that's because he's a fellow Tory. Hunt's remarks are beyond disgusting and we demand that he issue a sincere apology to Mr Corbyn immediately!
