We, the undersigned.Call on the Victorian Government to make much needed changes to the Wildlife Act 1975 in which limits the ability of licenced wildlife controllers to promote wildlife conservation.
The below changes are recommended to ensure the safety and rehabilitation of wildlife, namely venomous snakes.Filming of wildlife rescues plays a pivotal role into conservation as it educates the general public, thus also promoting safety.The below changes also allows licence holders to rehabilitate venomous snakes as at the moment this is not allowed under the current conditions.
The removal of clause;
Part 6 - Commercial Wildlife LicencesDivision 2 - Conditions of Wildlife Controller LicencesSection 63 - Conditions of any Wildlife Controller Licence(1) - It is a condition of any Wildlife Controller Licence that the licence holder must - (f) not display to the public the wildlife or the operations undertaken in accordance with the licence.
The addition of Clause
Part 6. Division 2. Section 63. (1)(f) - be allowed to rehabilitate all wildlife authorised to be controlled under the licence.
