The story of the Southbridge Community Garden parallels that of many community gardens: community bands together, transforms vacant space, grows food, employs people, encourages composting, and then tragically loses lot to development.
In 2011, volunteers began transforming a vacant lot into an oasis where neighbors, children, plants, trees, birds and bees congregate. Everyone is learning to grow vegetables and flowers, and we have held over 15 community workshops and events including worm composting, community meals, cover cropping, season extension, and many others.
The Neighborhood House, which owns that lot that houses the Southbridge Community Garden is planning to sell the property to a developer. Please help save the garden and community by signing this petition.
