Dedicated to preserving and enhancing the visual character of Toronto's communities and neighbourhoods.
Up until now, digital billboards have appeared primarily in Dundas Square and on the Gardiner. But new recommendations being proposed by city staff will allow digital billboards to be installed across Toronto with insufficient restrictions to avoid visibility from residential areas.Flashing digital billboards have been proven to distract drivers. For that reason alone, I strongly oppose their continued expansion in Toronto. In addition, I'm concerned about the visual impact on our landscape and lack of public consultation requirements for new digital signage. Neighbourhoods have a right to participate in decisions that affect them, and this proposal does not allow for that process to happen. Rather, billboard companies will be able to install new digital billboards 'as of right'.
