Sundance Elementary School was established as an alternative education programme in 1973. Sundance students have been thriving amongst the Garry Oak trees and quiet location in the annex portion of the Bank Street School buildings since the 1970s. The main building of the Bank Street school was built in 1911 and is a registered Heritage site. Sundance Elementary School is classified as a "School of Choice". The Greater Victoria School District (SD61) states: "Sundance Elementary School is an alternative K – 5 school with a strong sense of community. Classes are multi-aged. Cooperation is emphasized over competition and letter grades are not given. Academics, social responsibility, the environment and the arts are all considered equally important in the educational development of Sundance students. Parent involvement, buddy activities and peer mentoring are part of the regular routine at Sundance." We, the Sundance community, are asking for your help. On behalf of our children and all those who have fallen in love with Sundance before them, we thank you for your support in protecting our small school with a big heart.
