Doing what ever is needed to safeguard the future of Ridley turtles.
The State of Texas and the National Park Service has imported Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtles to nest on Padre island. They need to do all that is possible to protect these turtles through the entire nesting cycle. The Southern Beach is one huge party area with people digging huge ruts in the sand which turtles will not be able to cross and vehicles driving over nesting sites. The entire Padre Island National Seashore has become a huge garbage collection zone. I personally witnessed a large bulldozer scraping up the garbage in Malaquite beach area and pushing it up into the dunes instead of physically removing it. Lights in the beaches are not regulated during turtle nesting season which will cause the turtles to return to the sea and abort the eggs.
