G20: Prevent Cyberbullying through Education
Due to the development of our technology today, cyber-bullying has become one of the most difficult issues to tackle in our society. Research shows that Cyberbullying is more likely to happen at to kids and teenagers. According to the latest studies: 87% of today’s youth have witnessed cyberbullying (Source) 34% of students have experienced cyberbullying (Source) 20% of kids cyberbullied think about suicide (Source) Young victims of cyberbullying are 2X as likely to attempt suicide and self-harm (Source) It's time to react at a global scale! According to Professor Ann John, of Swansea University Medical School, one the world's foremost expert, the best solution is the prevention. This petition therefore supports the following: 1. At the very least, we want the Global Leaders to take-up the problem of Cyberbullying in their discussion during the upcoming G20 of Buenos Aires in November 2018 2. The governments of the G20 countries need to make Cyberbullying a priority and commit to launch at the G20 scale a comprehensive Cyberbullying prevention program that would be included in school anti-bullying policies, alongside broader concepts such as digital citizenship, online peer support for victims, etc.
