Dedicate Central Park In Memoriam of Gracie Muehlberger and Dominic Blackwell- APPROVED!
Help support the families of both Gracie Anne Muehlberger and Dominic Michael Blackwell in their efforts to get the City of Santa Clarita to formally and forever dedicate Central Park in Santa Clarita, California. Their heartfelt desire is the ensure nobody ever forgets their children’s impact on this community and to have the City Council vote and approve dedicating the park as:“Central Park - In Memoriam of Gracie Muehlberger and Dominic Blackwell”. Please sign this petition to support this dedication and ask the city officials for approval. This will forever honor these two young children who brought together a community in an unprecedented way. We believe this dedication to be fitting and essential for the following reasons. On Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019, Dominic Michael Blackwell (14) and Gracie Anne Muehlberger (15) lost their lives during the Saugus High School Shooting. That morning, Central Park became designated as the Incident Command Post, where the children safely evacuated from the school were sent for protection and to reunite with their loved ones. Three days after the tragedy, per the City of Santa Clarita, well over 15,000 people gathered at Central Park for a moving vigil, the largest gathering in the history of the Santa Clarita Valley. Thousands more attended online via live stream. This event honored the memories of Dominic and Gracie, and all those afflicted by this tragedy. This occasion’s impact cannot be overstated; even today, this park serves as a symbol of unity, community, and remembrance. Central Park also became the home of makeshift memorials for Gracie and Dominic, including two white crosses being placed there, surrounded by various mementos. The community came together at Central Park to mourn the lives of these beautiful and innocent children. These two young souls are forever a part of the city’s history, and should forever be a part of its future. Gracie and Dominic are the embodiment of what this community represents- unity, happiness, love, joy, respect, faith, and fun. The teens and their families each had their own special connection to the park. Gracie often played there with her dog and made new friends while her brother Brady practiced soccer. Dominic learned to ride his bike here and discovered his love for football and teamwork. It was a space where Gracie and Dominic’s personalities shined, where they spread joy and fostered camaraderie. They brought us together in an unprecedented way that should always be remembered by the great city of Santa Clarita. As the youth of Santa Clarita are the future of this great city, the most impactful event of their lives thus far must be given the honor it deserves. Our town, like the rest of the world, is struggling with so much adversity. Honoring this request reminds everyone that we are better together, that we will never forget that we are #SaugusStrong #GracieStrong #DominicStrong #UnityOfCommunity. Central Park is located at 27150 Bouquet Canyon Rd, Santa Clarita, California 91350. Thank you for your support!!
