Stand Up for Designated Staff Seating at the National Museum of Scotland!

In 2008 the National Museum of Scotland temporarily closed the Victorian side of the National Museum of Scotland for a redesign. When it reopened in 2011 the designated staff seating which had previously been a part of the galleries had gone. These seats, which offered respite for workers who otherwise spend their whole day on their feet. The lack of staff seats in the museum galleries is causing lots of problems, like back pain and leg pain. All we want is a proper seat for staff to sit on to rest our feet, backs and legs for moments during the day. Our most recent campaign action saw a majority of affected staff sign a petition demanding designated staff seating, but our bosses have refused to discuss the matter. We’ve been told that we’ve to sit on public benches if we need to rest, but public benches should be there for you when you visit our museum, not for us to take up during the working day. Our request is modest but we’d like to have your support. We want you to love the museum as much as we do, and we’d like you to back us in our campaign for seats so we can continue to be one of the country’s top tourist attractions. We want the public to know about our campaign, and support us in our humble, but important request for designated staff seating.
