Shocking: Why cruel bull taming event Jallikattu legal in India? - Naresh Kadyan

New Investigation Exposes Jallikattu Cruelty by PETA India In a major fillip to jallikattu enthusiasts and bull owners, the Centre has reversed its stand and pulled out bulls from the list of beasts that are not to be exhibited as performing animals, violating the Model Code of Conduct because during election process Ministry of Environment and Forest can not change its stand, to attract voters. The Centre''s affidavit filed in the Supreme Court on Monday stated that "In order to strike a balance and to safeguard the interest of all stakeholders including the animals, while keeping in mind the historic, cultural and religious significance of the event and with a view to ensure that no unnecessary pain or suffering is caused to the animals, participants and spectators, the government of India proposes to exempt ''bulls'' participating in ''Jallikattu'' in the state of Tamil Nadu from the purview of the 2011 notification." It was through this notification that bulls were banned from participating in jallikattu events. Hence OIPA - Indian People for Animals demands that said affidavit and policy decision may kindly be set aside at once and restore the previous stand of MoEF. However, animal rights activists are not enthused about the development. "The ban on use of bulls as performing animals must stay and must be strictly applied to jallikattu to protect the people and bulls. It''s high time for ministry recognizes that and put the cruel jallikattu to an end. Tradition is no justification for cruelty," said Abhishek Kadyan and Miss Sukanya Kadyan, where as OIPA - Indian People for Animal through Naresh Kadyan moved complaint against the Ministry of Environment and Forest for the violation of Model Code of Conduct, copy attached here with for ready reference, hence you are humbly requested to please direct MoEF to restore the ban on bulls participated in jallikatu, cruel rural sports, to endorsed my fundamental duties and MoEF not above Indian Constitution.
