NDOV/Prof. Isa Odidi - Nigerian government and Nigerian Police release Mr. Nastura Sharif

Nigerian Diaspora Ombudsman Voices (NDOV)" with Prof. Isa Odidi as Executive Director demand the Nigerian government and Nigerian Police release Mr. Nastura Sharif. STOP the Nigerian government and its security agencies from trampling on the fundamental human rights of Nastura Sharif. Mr. Nastura Sharif, who is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Coalition of Northern Groups, has been wrongfully arrested for leading a peaceful demonstration to protest the Nigerian government’s failure to provide security for Nigerians in the North. The Nigerian Diaspora Ombudsman Voices (NDOV) considers the arrest and detention of Mr. Nastura Sharif as illegal and tantamount to a violation of his fundamental human and constitutional rights. Every Nigerian citizen is guaranteed the right to peaceful protest and assembly. The government is clearly perpetuating an illegal and unconstitutional act against Mr. Sharif. This must stop. The Nigerian Diaspora Ombudsman Voices therefore calls on you to sign this petition to: 1. Demand the immediate release of Mr. Nastura Sharif so that he can regain his liberty immediately be reunited with family and friends. 2. Bring to the attention of the International Community and governments the unlawful arrest, detention, and abuse of the human rights of Mr. Nastura Sharif and genuine concerns about his personal safety and security. Thank You, Nigerian Diaspora Ombudsman Voices Professor Isa Odidi, Executive Director.

Stop Kano State from trampling on the basic human rights of HRH Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II

His Royal Highness (HRH) Muhammadu Sanusi II now “former” Emir of Kano was once called the “most intelligent man in Nigeria” by former IMF Managing Director, Christine Lagarde. HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II was listed as one of the 100 most influential people in the world, by TIME Magazine in 2011. HRH is a household name in Nigeria and indeed Africa. He is regarded as one of the most educated and progressive traditional rulers in Nigeria. The Governor of Kano State – Abdullahi Ganduje, in what has been referred to as “political vendetta” dethroned HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II for “insubordination'' and “disrespect,” and exiled him first to Loko town and then to Lafia in Nasarawa State. This act of banishment is as medieval as it is antiquated in this digital age and is intended to inflict maximum suffering. Every Nigerian citizen is guaranteed the right to personal liberty according to Section 35 of the Nigerian constitution. The government is clearly perpetuating an illegal and unconstitutional act against HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II. The Nigerian Diaspora Ombudsman Voices therefore call on you to sign this petition asking for: 1. The immediate release of HRH Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II so that he can regain his liberty and be reunited with family members 2. Help bring to the attention of the International Community the abuse of the human rights of HRH Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II and the genuine concerns about his personal safety and security. Thank You, Nigerian Diaspora Ombudsman Voices Professor Isa Odidi, Executive Director.
