National Secular Society
We campaign for a society in which all citizens enjoy equality of respect and freedom of conscience, regardless of religious beliefs, or lack of religious belief. Putting these principles into action requires the separation of religion and state and the removal of privileges traditionally enjoyed uniquely by religious groups. We promote secularism as the best means to create a society in which people of all religions or none can live together fairly and cohesively. Founded in 1866, the National Secular Society is the only organisation working exclusively towards this goal.
