Withdraw the Suspension Orders of Mr. Lateef Mohammed Khan
Dear Sir, You have been hailed as a hero, who fought for the rights of the people of Telangana. Your struggle which led to the formation of Telangana has been a huge source of inspiration to all of us. During the time of your struggle, you were supported by over 30,000 Government employees of Telangana. These government employees did everything possible to support you and ensure that your struggle bears fruit. Today, in the very same Telangana, under your leadership the voice of government employees is being suppressed. We are shocked at the arbitrary and unjust suspension order issued to Lateef Mohammed Khan, Gazetted Head Master at Govt. High School on 17th May 2019 for posting a video demanding the fulfillment of promises that the previous Telangana government had made during the previous election campaign. “Suppressing the voice of Mr. Lateef Mohammed Khan is an insult to all those government employees, who fought along with you shoulder to shoulder to achieve the statehood of Telangana” Mr. Lateef Mohammad Khan is an exemplary citizen of Telangana. He has been a conscientious teacher in government service working as a Head Master at Govt. High School. It is a fact that Mr. Lateef Mohammed Khan never used his official capacity or public service office to raise his voice, but as a responsible citizen and as a civil rights activist, to highlight the grievances of the public at large. He did so as the general secretary of CLMC which works with a mission statement to research and action to monitor, document, advocate and educate about civil rights and human rights abuses for the past 20 years. At the same time, he has never allowed his political activism to hamper his duties as a teacher. He has an exemplary record as a teacher and administrator without any blemish. This brings to ask the following questions: 1. Does the Telangana Government under your leadership not support the voices that are raised for the benefit of the people of Telangana? 2. Would the Telangana Government suppress the voices of the very same government employees who stood by you for achieving the statehood of Telangana? Secondly, if you aren’t aware of this issue and this action was taken by officials under your government, then it raises the following questions: 1. Why are the officials under your leadership suppressing the voices of the government employees that seek the betterment of Telangana? Was this not the same attitude that led to the suppression of the rights of people of Telangana during the then United Andhra Pradesh? 2. The video released by Mr. Lateef Mohammed Khan didn’t even get 250 views when it was released. By suspending Mr. Lateef Mohammed Khan, the officials under your government have made the video viral. This means the officials under your government aren’t mature enough to understand and most likely they will do significant damage to your government. Therefore, we highly suggest you do a thorough review of your officials and put them on some training program so that they can act more maturely in the future. We earnestly believe that Mr. Lateef Mohammad Khan has acted as a conscientious citizen well within his constitutional rights to strive towards accountability of actions of the government and state machinery. The entire departmental proceedings initiated against Lateef Mohammed Khan is arbitrary and politically motivated to mentally harass him and to disturb his official position, public and personal/ family life. As concerned citizens and people’s collectives, we call upon the Department to immediately revoke the unjust and arbitrary suspension order served to Mr. Lateef Mohammad Khan and reinstate him in his service at the earliest.
