CHARGE ANIMAL ABUSERS AT NORTH CAROLINA RESEARCH LAB

The Corapeake, NC lab was forced to close and surrender its “test subjects” after a PETA investigation uncovered diseased and wounded dogs, cats and rabbits. Over 9 months, PETA’s investigator recorded staff brutalizing terrified animals. One worker used pliers to wrench teeth from a frantic dog. Another tried to pull out a cat’s claws.

U.S. Citizens - Ask Your Senators To Pass A Crush Videos Act Of 2010

Thanks to your perseverance, the U.S. House Of Representatives passed (416-3) H.R. 5566, the Prevention of Interstate Commerce in Animal Crush Videos Act of 2010. This partial victory is a decisive snub to a 4/20 Supreme Court ruling that protects crush fetish videos as free speech. The U.S. Vs. Stevens ruling focused on "depiction" rather than actual abuse -- the portrayal of high-heeled feet stomping small animals to death. H.R. 5092 bypasses the Court's decision, enforcing a ban on sale/circulation of animals shown crushed, drowned, stabbed or burned. After Congress returns from recess in September, it is imperative that the Senate introduce a Crush Videos Act of 2010.

3/21/10 SHOW ME HORSE SLAUGHTER IN SHOW-ME MISSOURI?

Missouri, the "Show Me State," is already the nation's puppy mill capital. Now the enterprising state aims to reinstate horse slaughter. Rep. Jim Viebrock, R-Republic, has introduced H.B. 1747 to sidestep federal regulations that bar horse slaughter for human consumption. According to Viebrock, his bill would jump-start the "ailing equine industry." WHEREVER YOU LIVE: THIS BILL AFFECTS YOU. The last three U.S. kill plants were shut down in 2007. Don't let Missouri revive a despicable industry.

Permanently Halt Primates-For-Research Farm In Puerto Rico

UPDATE 2/9/10: On 12/30/09 we reported that thousands of monkeys would be spared misery inside research labs due to a Superior Court judge's ruling to stop construction of a primate supply firm in Puerto Rico. In an abrupt about face, Puerto Rico's Appeals Court has decided to let construction proceed in Guayama while reviewing Bioculture's appeal. So now, while the court considers -- Bioculture builds. According to Animal Legal Defense Fund: "The three-person panel of Appeals Court judges did not explain their decision, and they basically said that building may proceed until they order otherwise. We don't know when that will be..." NOT GOOD NEWS FOR MONKEYS. Let officials know how disappointed you are in the Appeal Court's reverse decision and that citizens worldwide support PERMANENT termination of this and any future monkey-breeding compounds.

TELL NASA TO STOP NUKING MONKEYS

For the first time in decades (since chimps in space) NASA is conducting radiation tests on squirrel monkeys. Irradiating monkeys calls for experimenters to repeatedly blast restrained animals with gamma rays comparable to three years in space. Once tests conclude at Brookhaven National Laboratory in New York, the monkeys spend their lives as test subjects in a Harvard Medical School project.
