We’re building a movement of concerned citizens – moms, health care workers, small business owners, farmers, and more – who care about what’s in the food we eat. On October 15, 2011, the Just Label It campaign was formed when the Center for Food Safety filed a petition with the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to require the labeling of all foods produced using genetic engineering. We knew the FDA wouldn’t listen to us alone, so days later, we asked citizens from around the country to join us and tell the FDA to “Just Label It.” By our latest count, over 1.2 million sent their own comments to the FDA urging them to label genetically engineered foods. General Mills, Kellogg’s, PepsiCo, and Coca-Cola: Support Mandatory FDA labeling of GMOs!

General Mills and many of our favorite, trusted brands – Kellogg’s, PepsiCo and Coca Cola – have teamed up with other major food companies, spending more than $100 million on anti-labeling campaigns. In 2015 alone, General Mills spent $1.1 million lobbying in Washington, which includes trying to block mandatory FDA labeling of GMOs. Since 2012, General Mills has spent more than $3.6 million on state-based campaigns to deny mandatory labeling of GMO foods. And their trade association, the Grocery Manufacturers Association, is one of the main supporters of the dangerous DARK Act, which recently passed in the House. This legislation would not only prevent mandatory FDA labeling, but it would also make it nearly impossible for local agencies to protect human health and the environment on any of the 228 million acres that are currently being used to grow GMOs. Unless labeling is mandatory, consumers will not get the information they need and deserve. These companies often pride themselves on an honest and healthy image; yet they are not being fully transparent to parents, families and consumers across the country – marketing their products on trust, but funding anti-labeling efforts at the same time. Join us in asking General Mills and these other major food companies to just label it and support mandatory FDA labeling of GMOs.
