Robert Eaglestaff was a legendary and remarkable leader, as the principal of Indian Heritage School from 1989-1996 he left an indelible mark on our intertribal community. Under his guidance the Indian Heritage School was at its pinnacle, and a model for all urban intertribal alternative schools, serving as a program which balanced academic success with the cultural, traditional, and socio-historical uniqueness of tribal learners. Renaming the school will honor his lifelong commitment, dedication, and sacrifice to Indian Education and Native learners. The Eaglestaff family fully endorses and supports this effort as an honorable gesture of commemorating a great educator, leader, and community member.
