Stop the downgrade of Withybush Hospital
Hywel Dda Health Board have announced that Withybush Hospital is to be 'repurposed' despite public opposition including a 40,000 signature petition. The downgrade of Withybush Hospital will have a major impact on Pembrokeshire, the loss of A&E provision potentially puts lives at risk due to the critical importance of time. In addition the health board do not appear to have a fixed plan for the new urgent and planned care hospital provision outlined along with the downgrade of Withybush in the 'Transforming Clinical Services' with no fixed location, funding or timescale in place. As such we believe that Hywel Dda Health Board have failed the people of Pembrokeshire and not fully addressed the concerns raised in the consultation process. In light of the above, we believe that it is neccesary for you to intervene in the process in your role as Secretary for Health and Social Services.
Review Slap on Wrist Sentence
The Facts:Cwmbran Youth Court heard the boy, 12, pleaded guilty to actual bodily harm, criminal damage, attempted robbery and three counts of assault by beating. He was given an intensive referral order for 10 months and his father will have to pay £500 in damages. The court heard the child punched a teenage boy in the face, chipping his tooth and leaving him "scared to leave his house". He also attacked a woman in her seventies as she waited for a bus at the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport, where her husband had just been diagnosed with cancer. We at Forge Wales believe that this type of delinquency should not be encouraged with a judgement that equates to a slap on the wrist. The principle of the Rule of Law demands that there not be a situation where there is one rule for some, and another for others. This young man assaulted a seventy year old woman in an unprovoked attack and is clearly a risk to wider society. In light of this, we at Forge Wales call for a review of the punishment in light of the numerous serious infractions.
The people demand representation
We demand an explanation as to why Dai Boswell, now a convicted criminal sentenced for child sex offences, remains a councillor with all the benefits this entails, including pay. On behalf of his constituents, who remain unrepresented, and as a general point we demand action be taken to remedy the broken system of local government which allows for such criminals to retain their positions be changed so that this never happens again.
Respect the Referendum Result
On the 23 June 2016 the British public voted to leave the European Union. Since the referendum there has been much talk and debate about what type of Brexit the government should pursue. This intentionally complicates the issue and we believe that it is time for the government to deliver Independence in regards to governance and trade policy from the European Union. Your party stood on a manifesto platform at the last election to implement the referendum result and we the undersigned, call on you to deliver on this pledge.
