End the licensing of fox hunts on Lake District National Park land.
The Lake District National Park Authority currently licences four hunts to hunt on LDNPA land. The hunts are permitted by LDNPA to follow a trail of fox-based scent, even though evidence has shown that in the vast majority of cases, no trail is laid and hunts are hunting and killing wildlife as they did before the Hunting Act 2004 came into force. https://www.ifaw.org/united-kingdom/resource-centre/2015-ifaw-trail-lies-report Further evidence has revealed that the import of fox urine requires a licence, and no hunts have been licensed for this purpose. Hunts in the Lake District have been revealed to be presenting fake certificates to land owners to pretend they are using a legitimately acquired scent. https://www.facebook.com/NTDistrust/posts/the-fox-urine-fact-sheet-contains-a-lot-of-very-useful-information-regarding-the/1308689899212943/ Hunts on LDNPA land have been shown to be breaching licence conditions on numerous occasions, but no long-term action is taken by LDNPA to prevent re-occurrences. Hunt monitors have been obstructed and assaulted by hunt supporters to prevent them filming illegal hunting, and both visitors to this beautiful area and local people are intimidated by hunts. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/long_reads/fox-hunting-uk-britain-mobs-driving-communities-apart-a7948516.html As a result of public pressure, the National Trust in the Lake District is taking action against illegal hunting, and the Forestry Commission does not grant any hunting licences in the Lake District. However, the LDNPA insists on continual licensing of hunts on publicly-owned and publicly-funded land. It's time LDNPA stopped pandering to the wildlife criminals.
