We the undersigned are looking to decrease Junior classroom sizes in the French Immersion Program at St. Brigid Elementary School in Georgetown.
In the 2017/2018 school year the Grade 4 Early French Immersion (EFI) classes were combined, resulting in a classroom size of 33 students. The parents were not made aware of the change until all classrooms were assigned in the last week of August. We are concerned that this combining of EFI classes in the Junior year will set a precedent for future class sizes in both Junior and Intermediate French Immersion.
Students who are acquiring the French Language at St. Brigid deserve equitable classroom sizes with teachers that are fully dedicated to teaching French.
