Coal Free Massachusetts
Massachusetts has been a national leader in supporting energy efficiency and the transition to a green economy, but coal-fired power continues to take a toll on our health and contributes significantly to climate change pollution. There are 3 coal plants in Massachusetts currently operating -- Brayton Point, Mt. Tom and Salem Harbor Stations. Brayton Point Station in Somerset, Massachusetts is the largest coal-fired power plant in all of New England, and is also the biggest single source of carbon dioxide in the region. It is time for Massachusetts to declare its independence from coal.
