A worst incidence happened to me last year while I was on a visit to Hirakud dam. I walked 4km up in the hilly area to experience the sun set, a special moment at the top of the hill (Nehru Charminar). Though my heart beat high and reduced my walking speed ,still I managed to reach the entrance.I was still in a hurry not to miss that amazing moment in the open space. Finally I got see a situation where Sun rays entered into the cloud and focused into a particular area on the water reservoir. Presence of rainbow presented a visual delight deep inside me and ignited my creative urge to capture the moment and showcase before you. Suddenly, I opened my camera for a photograph but one security officer came running towards me and cautioned not to capture any photograph. I stopped. After few seconds that beautiful moment disappeared like a nightmare. My artistic mind couldn't stop them to argue why? I couldn't get any answer yet but I request you to sign this petition to allow photography at the Hirakud Reservoir and other tourist places in India.
The BJD ruled govt. has approved Rs 102 crore project to set up a beer factory in Jhinkargadi forest of Dhenkanal. P & A Bottlers, a Kolkata based beer company got 12 acres land in lease out of which five acres comprised of sal trees. People considered this place as their sacred grove. They protected this forest and never allowed anyone to intrude into their preserved, pristine treasure. While protesting not to cut down the sal trees, they were thrashed and evacuated from that place. 958 big trees were cut down within an hour from Jhinkargadi forest of Dhenkanal, Odisha.
We are raising some fundamental questions:1. Are sal tree less important than beer factory?2. Without prior information to the Green tribunal, how come the district administration ordered to cut down the valuable sal trees?3. Is evacuating and threatening the natives from their sacred land justified?
We request each of you to sign this petition and to support the survival of the community and demand a proper investigation into the matter.
