Petitioning Andrew Cuomo, David Carlucci, Kenneth Zebrowski, New York State Senate

Create a new law, Carols Law, changing NY State Law to defining inhalants as intoxicants.

On September 9th. 2015 Carol Dion was involved in a head on collision with a truck driven by Sarah Skotnicki. Later It would be determined that Skotnicki crossed the double yellow line and was high on a cleaning product called Endust. Inhalant abuse (commonly called "huffing") is the intentional inhalation of chemical vapors to attain a mental "high" or euphoric effect. Inhalants produce an effect that may be similar to alcohol intoxication. Initial symptoms described by abusers who were "huffing" include drowsiness, lightheadedness, loss of inhibition Further use can lead to the following: Dizziness Hallucinations or delusions Belligerence Apathy Impaired judgment (Source Vehicles are the #1 place where inhalant abuse occurs. Sarah Skotnicki admitted to crossing the double yellow line, stealing a can of endust from Target and huffing in her vehicle which was going over 70mph in a 30mph residential neighborhood zone. Sarah Skotnicki received 18 months to 4 years maximum for taking Carol Dions life. Judge Michalski referred to this sentence as not being long enough. In the Buffalo News, Gary Dion said Carol Dion led an exemplary life. Her husband describes her as a person that always saw the best in people and was very selfless. He called her his guardian. Now he must live life without her. 2 of Wisconsin bills are working towards changing their state laws Into treating inhalants as intoxicants. We propose "Carols Law" here in NY State asking our lawmakers to change chemical inhalants to a controlled substance and intoxicant in honor of Carol Dion and her family. 4 years is not a long enough sentence to serve for taking someone's life, someone's wife, someone's mother and grandmother away from them. These laws must change before any more lives are lost.
