Mr Kipling used to be an exceedingly good egg after making the decision to use only free range eggs in his cakes. However, he went back on his word and now uses ‘cage-free’ eggs which, despite the clever wording, are certainly not laid by free range hens. In this case, cage-free means the hens are kept in barns with no outdoor access. Please sign our petition and ask Mr Kipling to switch back to free range so we can enjoy a guilt-free Angel Slice with our cuppa.
The British Hen Welfare Trust is calling on McVitie’s to start using free range eggs in its beloved Jaffa Cakes. The product is a household favourite when it comes to taste, but not animal welfare. Making the switch to free range could make the difference to thousands of hens currently living in cages working hard to lay eggs for your tea time treat. If you feel passionately about hen welfare, please sign our petition and help make a change.
