Teran's Enough - No more dog cruelty!
Teran's Enough is a group dedicated to the enforcement of Texas Animal Cruelty Laws in the city of Houston focused on the Port of Houston Area. A black female pit bull was shot on the street in front of watchers and left there. Ana Teran (animal rescuer) was notified and immediately went to provide burial for murdered pittie. The port area is well known for animal abuse and Texas Cruelty laws are not enforced there. Dogs are mutilated by machetes, shot at will without recourse, starved, chained without shelter year round, and all manner of atrocities committed on their bodies without any consequences to the perpetrators. This sad state of events is wide spread in the Port Area. Texas does have animal cruelty laws in place and counties larger than 75,000 in population are required to enforce them. I believe Houston qualifies and yet does nothing. This group is dedicated to see change and the enforcement of animal cruelty laws. To see that change is brought about, we intend to focus as much media attention as we can garner to hopefully have this matter discussed at city council. And we hope you direct us to the right parties that govern the Harris County matters. In addition to current laws being enforced, we would like you to discuss pet population control. Harris County Shelter is notoriously high kill. We firmly believe that "backyard breeding" and loose animals are responsible for the thousands of unwanted abandoned dogs that wind up at your kill shelter. We strongly believe that any unregistered dog and unlicensed person should have their pets spayed and neutered. Houston & Harris County have the resources to offer a free spay & neuter clinic and pass laws that would make it mandatory. The fines and fees for non-compliance would partially pay for this service. The reduction in pet food and supplies, as well as kennel facilities, euthansia, body bags, and disposal at animal shelters would further fund this program. While we are not professionals at doing in depth "studies" on this program, you do have the resources to look into our proposal. We entreat you to do so. There are many rescues organizations in the State of Texas and a great majority in other states that work tirelessly and at great expense to rescue dogs...and a vast majority come from Harris County and Houston. Your city & county residents are deeply affected by the overflowing population of abused and abandoned dogs. I receive pleas from Houstonians for help with rescue dogs on a daily basis. Please listen to their cries. It is not "just a dog" to us or your residents. I lived in Houston for many years and once was of the opinion that it was the greatest city in the United States. I would like to see these changes discussed and hopefully implemented in an "urgent" time frame. Just maybe, maybe you could set an example for the rest of our State...we need your help. Make Houston Great again...and set the bar high!
