Join the American Diabetes Association in supporting a cure for people like Bella

It is a terrible agony to watch a loved one suffer. Ask Danielle. She watched her daughter, Bella, go from a healthy 4-year-old to the brink of death in mere days. At first, the pediatrician on call said Bella had the flu. Then came the diagnosis: Bella had type 1 diabetes. Her blood glucose levels were off the scale. Bella was in diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), a serious condition that can lead to a diabetic coma or even death. Doctors rushed Bella to the children's hospital, where it took a special endocrinology team several days to get her stabilized. The American Diabetes Association is proud to celebrate 75 years of working toward a future free from diabetes and all its burdens - but for Bella and Danielle, and for the nearly 30 million Americans living diabetes and the 86 million more with prediabetes, we must do everything possible to finally find a cure for diabetes.  Unless we take action soon, one in three adult Americans will have diabetes by 2050. You can make a difference today. The federal government must increase its commitment to battling this widespread and devastating epidemic. Right now, Congress has the power to increase – or decrease – federal funding for diabetes research and programs. Research equals hope for families like Bella and Danielle’s, and the millions of others affected by diabetes.  We need your voice. We need your support.  Will you join with Bella and her family and tell Congress to make funding diabetes research and programs a priority? Take action and stand United for a Cure today!
