The Albany Community Care Respite Centre is the only dedicated respite centre in the Great Southern, and since 2010 it has been providing 43,800 hours of respite care per year.
Click here to find out more about the Centre.
It supports people in care to remain in their own homes by giving their carers an opportunity to look after their own health and well being by having worry-free breaks.
Without it, it will only place pressure on the Albany Health Campus to look after non acute people, and it has no secure dementia ward.
At the end of June the Centre's funding will end and because of changes by the Federal Government, there is no opportunity to apply for further funding until 2017.
With no ongoing funding, the Centre will have to close their doors.
This is an essential community resource and both Federal and State Governments need to intervene to provide funding to keep it open.
