“As a retired military person my TRICARE insurance is also dependent on Medicare payments.”   - Donn E. (Seattle, WA)

The least we can afford to do for those who have so selflessly served their country is protect their health coverage upon their return. It is time to move to a more stable Medicare physician payment system that provides security for uniformed service members, retirees and their families seeking access to care, and the physicians who care for them.

For too long, patients have been left wondering if Congress will address the flawed sustainable growth rate (SGR), a formula based on economic growth dictating Medicare physician payment rates. Consistently passing temporary patches, with the threat of future cuts, leads to uncertainty for patients who rely on important health care programs like TRICARE, a healthcare program for military personnel and their families. Failure to act only makes future cuts steeper and escalates the costs of permanent payment reform.

Think of the heroes who have so bravely served; it is time to serve them. Tell Congress: repeal SGR.

My step-father is an army chaplain on his second tour in the middle East. During this tour alone, TriCare revoked my coverage for non-payment even though I haven't ever missed a payment. They have also denied my severely ill younger brother, who has been living with bipolar disorder for years, inpatient treatment. This just isn't right. Any insurance company, but especially those caring for the military and their families, should not get away with being this blatantly greedy.

TriCare is denying necessary treatment for my child while his father (my husband) is deployed to Afghanistan. TriCare is a division of Humana. I think the government should allow other insurance companies to bid on the military contract. Perhaps then, Humana would be motivated to provide proper coverage to military families through TriCare

My husband is active duty Air Force and we live on base. The healthcare is the bare minimums, if that, for the families. Because of tricare - doctors dont really take the time to diagnose and treat. Spouse and children healthcare cost is going up, where its almost worth it to get normal insurance so I'd have better care and it'd be the same cost. They arent looking out for our military anymore - just giving us the shit end of the stick so they can say they "care."

Someone I know who was in the military is now getting screwed over when it comes to healthcare. And that's not right.
