Tell Washtenaw County Prosecuting Attorney Brian Mackie, to drop all charges against Marquise Thomas.  Marquise Thomas, 17, Pioneer High School senior, along with two other African-American boys, are being charged with felonies for the Huron vs Pioneer football Brawl. The brawl consisted of at least 60 participating players of all ethnic backgrounds. However, not one player of non African-American descent has been suspended, expelled and/or criminally charged with felonies. Their coaches were the initiators of this brawl. None of whom have been found criminally responsible. One was fired (Coach Vince Wortmann, African-American), one has retired (Coach Paul Test) and the other (Coach Corry Gildersleeve) whom incited the riotous brawl, is still employed (Test/Gildersleeve, non African-American). These players were defending themselves in a hail of chaos. It appears as if prosecuting attorney Brian Mackie and whomever else, is sacrificing these African-American boys lives to cover up gross misconduct and negligence committed by the coaches, athletic directors, school administrators and the Ann Arbor Police department. These are good boys who deserve a honest chance at becoming good men.

THIS IS AN URGENT MATTER. Not only is Marquise currently an honor roll student, he's also an extraordinary performer on the football field (Washtenaw County Dream Team and All SEC Running Back).  Marquise has a chance to capitalize on his talents and earn himself an education to better his life.  A FELONY will end ANY chance this happening.

Sign the petition then contact Bob Mackie (prosecutormackie@ewashtenaw.org), your congressman (http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/), your pastor, the news, NAACP (info@detroitnaacp.org), NAN (blackimhotep@yahoo.com, nandetroit@gmail.com), AAPS School Board (boe@a2schools.org) ask questions or spread the word. Just do something. It takes a village to save a child. TOGETHER WE MUST STOP THIS MODERN DAY LYNCHING!!!

--This petition is not authorized by Marquise Thomas or his family. This petition was started  by a concerned citizen over the injustice being committed in this situation.  As a concerned citizen I took it upon myself to answer the question "what can I do?".

I have three sons who graduated from Ann Arbor Pioneer High School and one who went to Huron. In America as a parent I was responsible for my children and coaches should be responsible for their players on the field. We should not destroy the life of young blacks who are already a minority on college campuses, to lose their lively-hood because of their coaches and one of the only avenues

      available to them--EDUCATION!

I am a supporter of education and opportunity for all children in the state and country. Most definitely a supporter of education and opportunity in Washtenaw County as I grew up there and still am invested in the community overall. This is simply not right, it's excessive and needs to be changed.

I think it is unfair to charge these. Three. Young men. I think that if any action is taken, it should be both teams and the coaches. Making poor choices is part of growing up and learning from them. IAny of these young men go to prison over this it be unforgivable. Just having something on your record like this can destroy a lifeb. Justl drop this. I do think a lesson has been learned.
