Get Your Staff Tix to The Daily Show!

For the past two weeks, the Change.org staff have toiled relentlessly for 15 hour+ days -- retreating, presenting, planning, discussing, eating, drinking, karaoke-ing, standing-ovation-ing, snapping, and dancing late into the night to the Backstreet Boys. These harsh working conditions have been propagated by CEO Ben Rattray with impunity.

Ben thinks he can get away with this kind of behavior by inspiring us, giving us wonderful jobs and paying us fairly. Well, that is simply not enough.

Let's face it, there is only one way that Ben can show his staff that these weeks of toil have not been for naught: by securing all 100+ staff members tickets to his Daily Show appearance on Monday.

We have tried the appropriate channels, and asked BJW for tickets. His outraged response: "I'm giving all the tickets we got to my wife and her friends. I don't care about any of you. Back the !@#$ off."

Is this the kind of culture of nepotism Ben wants to build within Change.org?

Join us in calling for the Change.org founder to do the right thing, and do everything in his power to make this a reality.

      Dear friends,

      We won!

I just received the following message from company spokesperson Benjamin Joffe-Walt:

"As a company spokesperson, I write to inform you that Mr Rattray has asked me to inform you that he has agreed to your demands, and will be doing everything in his power to get tickets to The Daily Show for you and as many Change.org staffers as possible. To that end, he has tasked me with calling to producers of the show first thing tomorrow morning to try secure more tickets. He would also like to extend one of his personal VIP tickets to you as the author of the petition."

This victory would not have been possible without you. Thank you for signing the petition and taking action on yammer to ensure our voices were heard. And special shout-out to Nick A. and Tamseel for their #wingagement support on this campaign.

Now, let's all take a moment to wish Ben and BJW best of luck "break a leg" at the taping tomorrow!

      Happy Monday!

    2. UPDATE! Our voices are being heard!

Closes source to Ben say that he has requested an investigation into whether a limited number of non-VIP tickets could be made available to staff. While this is far from the fully democratic and open approach we had hoped for, it is a step in the right direction. Sign the petition, share with your colleagues, and help keep the pressure on!

Note: Sources also say Ben may be sighted in the Astor Place region of New York City for dinner tonight, at the ramen restaurant Ippudo. An offline action may be in order. Contact Emmy Suzuki Harris at 203 444 9465 if you would like to participate.
