Mr. Mulcair,

I just read that you're encouraging Chief Spence to quit her fast. For some reason, you seem to think that Harper's meeting with the usual suspects is a genuine step in the right direction. You then say something about keeping the pressure on the Harper government to achieve even more.

What sort of "pressure" are you talking about? The "pressure" that's allowed Harper to pass two abominable omnibus bills?

Chief Spence's decision on her hunger-strike is hers to make. I'm concerned about her health as well. And, you would do well to realize that if anything, it will be pressure on Harper to do the right thing that will save Chief Spence, rather than putting pressure on Chief Spence to stop doing the one thing that forced Harper's hand.

Sadly, Mr. Mulcair, your lack of leadership and vision on this issue is the end for me. I see more passion and integrity from Elizabeth May on many of the most important issues than I see from you. I cannot support the NDP under leadership such as yours. This is a nation-changing moment in this country and you're missing it. You're coming out with the same old, mewling, "business as usual" that has brought Canada to this sorry state.

I leave you with this bit of analysis: The Liberal Party of Canada imploded on its own. It was the people of Quebec, the province with the strongest social-democratic culture in Canada, who made the NDP a contender. Furthermore, with the failure of neoliberalism, Canadians started to give the NDP a second look. It is the height of folly for the NDP to attempt to "move to the middle" so as to become just as bankrupt and futile as the Liberal Party of Canada.

Fighting for working Canadians also includes fighting for policies that make a difference for democracy, including those represented by the INM movement. Doing the bare minimum in the House is not enough. The party of Tommy Douglas is a mere shadow of itself and talks a good game, but the only way to present a viable alternative to neo-liberal economics and a corporate kleptocracy is to actually step forward as a different and distinct movement. Proportional representation, prohibition of omnibus legislation, recall legislation for MPs, term limits. Be the change you talk about. We don't need another "suit" on the Hill...we need people with vision.

NDP is not a real opposition. They plan to fund our government with money issued at private banks- like every other corrupt party that's run this country.

This petition should be removed. Thomas Mulcair has supported Idle No More from day one.

If you wish to win the hearts of the people of British Columbia then please support Chief Spence and let her walk her path in pride. When you suggested that she stop her fast then you lost a lot of trust from those who would respect you! Give your support to Idle No More or give the reins of power to another NDP leader! Don't make loyal NDPers resent you and your posturing!!
