Tell Congress: Investigate Clarence Thomas' Ethics Violations

    1. Sponsored by

      People For the American Way

The U.S. Supreme Court was designed to be a neutral body that considers cases and questions of law without bias or prejudice. That justices are supposed to heed the law, unswayed by politics or ideology is a central tenent of our democracy.

Justice Clarence Thomas has a history of relationships and actions that create the appearance of serious impropriety, and his behavior must not be treated lightly.

Recent reports raise serious concerns about whether Justice Thomas has flouted ethics rules and financial disclosure standards by accepting gifts and favors from wealthy friends who have stakes in the cases he decides. But until recently, his actions have gone unchecked.

Earlier this month, Representative Chris Murphy (D-CT) stood up and began pressing the Judiciary Committee to hold hearings on Supreme Court ethics violations. He urged them to consider passing the Supreme Court Transparency and Disclosure Act, and is requesting his colleagues in the House of Representatives join his campaign.

People For the American Way supports Representative Murphy's efforts and hope you will join the fight for a fairer judiciary.

Take action today and call on the House Judiciary Committee to investigate Justice Thomas' behavior and to take steps to ensure the ethical conduct of all present and future Supreme Court justices.

This man has no place on the Supreme Court. Not only does he have strong biases, he lies about them.

I'm signing because there's a serious appearance of impropriety regarding Judge Thomas if he is called to ajudicate an issue his wife has great involvement with.

No one should think they are beyond the law.
