Stop the Slaughter of Yellowstone Bison

    1. Sponsored by

      Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund

Nearly 400 of the last true, wild bison in America are being held in federal corrals in Montana, waiting for the government to decide if they should be slaughtered.

Their crime? The bison left Yellowstone National Park for lower elevations after harsh winter conditions buried their food supply under deep snow.

Ranchers and the Montana Department of Livestock are claiming that the bison will spread the disease brucellosis to their livestock, but no case of bison-to-cattle transmission of the disease has ever been documented.

It's up to federal officials to determine whether these 400 bison will live or die.

These animals should be allowed to roam free, not executed over exaggerated science.

Speak out for the bison of Yellowstone National Park. Urge U.S. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to find an alternative to killing these animals that just left the Park in search of scarce food.

    5. The government needs to hear that the public opposes this slaughter. Yesterday, a federal judge ruled to let the slaughter proceed. According to the AP: "U.S. District Judge Charles Lovell in Helena wrote that while the slaughter of bison may be 'distasteful,' it is a 'time-honored' method of controlling a disease carried by many of the animals."

Here they go again......'man' thinking he has the God given right to destroy something that's been here for 100s of years, just because they 'think' it may affect them financially.

PLEASE!! DON'T KILL THEM..CHECK IN " HOPEDALE, ILLINOIS". A few years back, there was an owner who has acres of refuge for bison!!! Call the bank there or Hopedale Medical Center, somewhere there and ask. I'm sure they'd know who to get in touch with, if the refuge is still there!! Just PLEASE, at least check, first

We should nurture compassionate thought. Since we wish to live, we should not kill any other living being. Furthermore, the karma of killing is understood as the root of all suffering and the fundamental cause of sickness and war, and the forces of killing are explicitly identified with the demonic. The highest and most universal ideal of Buddhism is to work unceasingly for permanent end to the suffering of all living beings, not just humans.
