After worldwide condemnation of a proposed horse diving act in Atlantic City, horse advocates are now celebrating the announcement that there will be no horse diving at Steel Pier this summer.

Jennifer, the woman who created the online campaign, says, "I knew we had a chance to stop Steel Pier from reopening the diving horse shows, but I didn't know in less than two weeks 50,000 people would sign the petition and get this shut down. Thanks to everybody who signed and shared the petition and kept contacting! We did it!!"

The Editorial Board of the Star-Ledger, New Jersey's largest newspaper, chimed in to say that "no one wants to buy bathtub hootch or dodge bullets from Al Capone on the Boardwalk today. The horse-diving act belongs in the same ash bin of history. We’re glad the owners of the Steel Pier came to the same conclusion." http://bit.ly/yhVEiy

The diving horse show at the Atlantic City Steel Pier was shut down in the 1970's, but the event is set to return this summer. Riders mount horses and then dive from the tall pier into the water below. This dangerous and cruel event is terrifying for the horses and causes injury to both the animals and their riders. There is plenty of summer fun to be had at the pier without harming these horses. Please ask Atlantic City Steel Pier President Anthony Catanoso, the New Jersey Amusement Association (where he is a Director), and others in a position of influence to cancel plans to bring this event back after so many years.

I am tired of these emails, we have nothing to do with the Steel Pier horse diving show. Your parents must have raised some type of person that harasses businesses not involved in the event at all. Obviously the Change.org is a radical ...

This is the most cruel, inhumane and idiotic thing we have ever heard.. If the stupid people want to dive off a steel pier, let them do it, maybe they will break their necks, BUT DO NOT subject these innocent horses to such an insane act!!!!!!

I love horses to much to ever ask one to do such a stunt. Such a person has to be very insensitive to animals. No one I would want to know.
