Sanctuary for cats at Gage Park

      Hamilton, Canada

Time to step up to the plate and help make the Sanctuary a reality.  The weather is so cold, we could be sheltering many cats and finding them homes through all the rescues.  We need your help to get more signatures and form a committee!  How many want to help make this happen?

We have plenty of signatures but now we need a volunteer list of people willing to help maintain the Sanctuary and help fundraise for food and TNR.
Please leave your name on 'Sanctuary for cats at Gage Park' and we can get started. There are many cats freezing in the park this winter. Please step up and help.https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/t1/1546444_10202226116907156_2063313303_n.jpg

The humane treatment of animals, everywhere, is paramount and I support this project as part of a continuing and positive momentum in our city. I sincerely hope a cat sanctuary becomes a fast reality in Gage Park!

I think this is a wonderful idea! I hope the city considers this to help control the cat population while providing them a safe place to be. I would volunteer in a second if this request goes through!!

Thanks KKC for working so hard t...

All the animals need to be cared for in this city. It's up to us to speak for them, the homeless and we have it in us to help them. They are after all here because of us the people. We can stop the suffering by helping them. They need us.

I visited Miraflores, Peru. The church in the main square did the same thing. There is a park and a government office there as well and the cats too draw so many people to the area. Totally copasetic and awesome.

It is time that the City of Hamilton steps up to the plate and does something to protect these cats. HAC certainly does not protect them.

This is a valid alternative to the suffering of these poor animals and would help lessen their numbers. That and EDUCATION!

I think its a great idea - there is plenty of space - walk my dog over at Gage park and half the greenhouses are empty (What a waste)

Now we need a lot more from people who live in Hamilton Ontario so we can convince city hall and Councilor Morelli who is responsible for our park, that we really have a 'Public Will' to have a Sanctuary at Gage Park or anywhere else in the city. They keep denying there is a public will - please help convince him bmorellie@city.hamilton.on.ca

Please inform you city councilor that we need this sanctuary to keep our friendly street cats safe from Animal Control.
Cat rescues will help re-home these cats and have them spay/neutered so they won't reproduce. The cats at Animal Control are mostly getting sick with upper respiratory infection. Outdoor cats are much less likely to get sick before the rescues can re-home them. It is also going to save tax dollars that are spent paying for expensive facilities and staff at animals control. The sanctuary will be run by volunteers who are dedicated to keeping stray cats safe and spay/neutered. We don't want any more UNWANTED cats in Hamilton.

Cats are very precious, loving and beautiful animals. Gage Park would be a great space for these animals who deserve to be saved to have a place to call home. Great idea by Gail!

my cat is a rescue cat and i feel that cats all around Hamilton need the help and support that a sanctuary would be able to give to them.

I have been feeding/sheltering 6 stray cats in my parents backyard for over a year and a half. With these cold temperatures I worry about stray cats without access to warm shelters.

I recently read a story about a dog freezing to death and it bothered me to my core. All animals have a right to live.

Food and shelter isn't too much to ask for? They did not ask to be born yet these poor cats are left and forgotten.

Please do something, it's unfair and I couldn't imagine my pets being out these in this weather. Freezing and Hungry.
