Close 10000 members from 2200 families are living in the apartments in Nolambur, Ward 143, Corporation of Chennai. Some of us have invested our life time savings to buy the house. However, life here is very challenging because of lack of proper roads, drinking water and sewage disposal facilities.
There is just one road for all our commutement to school, work, hospital, basic access, etc., named Sriram Nagar main road. This road is not at all motorable and for the past 4-5 years it is in the same condition. It takes us 25 minutes to pass this 1.5km stretch. Even an ambulance cannot reach in time, should there be an emergency
We dont have proper facilities for drinking water also.
There is no sewage or drainage system in the locality. Sewage water stagnation near our homes are a big threat to the health of children and elders in these colonies. We need both storm water drainage and sewage drainage systems to be put in place.
The Mayor of Chennai City visited our residential colony in the month of March 2012 and assured to lay motorable roads as well as build drainage system. According to his assurance, the corporation of Chennai had passed a resolution to acquire the disputed land last month. And we all are eagerly waiting for the G.O. to be passed and lay proper roads prior to the rainy season in Chennai.
We request the corporation commissioner to take immediate action on this issue and provide us roads, drinking water and drainage.
