Mr. Dani Reiss, CEO of Canada Goose: Meet with 11-year-old Jasmine to discuss alternatives to coyote fur.

    1. Petition by

The Association for the Protection of Fur-Bearing Animals

Like the majority of Canadians, 11-year-old Jasmine Polsinelli is opposed to the use of fur, and considers the fur trade a cruel industry that needs to end. Jasmine tried to deliver a compassionate message to Dani Reiss, CEO of Canada Goose, but security blocked her from entering the building. As a fashion giant, Canada Goose has the power to change their current course, and move towards humane alternatives to animal fur. Meeting with Jasmine to discuss this would be a critical first step in Canada Goose becoming a company Canadians can be truly proud of.

Trading in fur on a commercial level is outdated; technology allows for abundant viable alternatives that render animal suffering unnecessary. It seems the main things keeping this industry alive are a backward appeal to tradition, and an appeal to greed (in the form of fashion or utmost luxury). I've lived quite comfortably without fur (or down) for 40 years in Canada, including a winter in the Northwest Territories. Under any normal circumstances, no one in a civilized society must wear fur. Certainly nobody needs fur trim. It's deplorable that Canadians are so indifferent to suffering as to allow trapping for the sake of gratuitous wants.
