Allow same-sex dates at prom

This discrimination against the students of MTHS who identify as LGBTQ and want to take their significant others to prom is ignorant and unfair. It is difficult enough to be true to oneself in high school without school authorities making it blatantly obvious that they do not see your relationships, and as an extension, you, as legitimate. Whatever reasoning the school system may have for this rule (i.e. prevents friends from getting discounted tickets, etc.) does not overrule this inequality; if heterosexual couples can buy "couple" tickets to prom, then homosexual couples should have that same privilege. It is nearly 2013. It's time to recognize all kinds of love, even if it starts with just a single high school prom.

All LGBT issues are important and if we can start more equal initiatives in high schools then maybe the change will spread to younger generations.

Because love should not be discriminated against. Everyone should have the same rights to be with the one they love or want to maybe love.

As a human being, being treated equally and being afforded the same oppotunities as everyone around me is kinda a big deal.

Being homosexual is no different than being a man or a woman, being black or white, being tall or short. Discriminating against teenagers and trying to teach them that they are wrong, or different, or disordered... *that* is what damages people, not because you have a boyfriend or girlfriend.
