Victory

Over 3,300 of you signed the petition to tell Walmart subcontractor NFI to rehire Santos Castaneda after he was fired for speaking out about the dangerous conditions in his workplace. Thanks, in part, to your petition signatures, Santos got his job back!

Although Walmart subcontractor workers continue to face intimidation on the job, they remain dedicated to making Inland Empire warehouses safe places to work.

Because Walmart and its logistics subcontractors need to respect workers' rights to speak out about dangerous working conditions. Santos Casaneda spoke at a rally about the dangerous conditions at NFI and was fired from his job five minutes later.

Employers should fix dangerous conditions rather than firing someone for exposing them. This is the 21st century, not the 19th.

Employee health and safety should be a prioity for all businesses. Speaking out to correct a problem should be encouraged.

Walmart spends millions on TV claiming that it loves its workers and does so much for the community. But, events like this show what a bunch of propaganda you shovel out daily. Treat Mr. Casaneda and others who work for you with dignity. I for one don't buy your ads but do pay close attention to how poorly you treat your employees. L J Jost
