Human Rights watch groups such as Amensity International report widespread human rights violations as a result of the use of excessive force by Turkish Police responding to the peaceful sit in protest in Gezi Park in Taksim, Istanbul. The group was protesting the current adminstration's intent to demolish the park and replace it with a shopping center . The excessive use of force on the part of Turkish Police has led to an escalation of protests and more violent response on the part of the the Turkish administration. We are urging The United Nations and the US State Department to act to help prevent further violence and mediate a peaceful resolution to these protests without further harm to public health, safety and the stability of the region.

The government is supposed to do what is right for the people. Not to have police poison them, beat them, knock them down with water cannons, and murder them. In a democracy the people are supposed to have freedom and rights, including the right to protest. PM Erdogan says he wants to restore peace in Turkey...it looks to me like he is waging war against his own people...unarmed people...innocent people. As always my thoughts and prayers are with my Turkish brothers and sisters.
