People who suffer long term life long health conditions and serious illness, where such conditions are only manageable not curable ,who due to the welfare reform are having to face reassessments at regular intervals. It is difficult enough for those people to deal with their condition/illness without the emotional stress and financial hardship which they are being subjected to constantly having to 'prove' that they are suffering, collate information themselves for Atos, and often having to go through lengthy, time consuming process of being found fit for work when not or and turned down for other help with their disability. As the Equality Act ( 2010 ) states: Progressive conditions
'A progressive condition is a condition that gets worse over time. People with progressive conditions can be classed as disabled. However, you automatically meet the disability definition under the Equality Act 2010 from the day you’re diagnosed with HIV infection, cancer or multiple sclerosis.'
Many disabled people have paid national insurance contributions and tax, some struggle to work and need that help and for others, they can no longer function on a daily basis. It is these people who are a 'quiet' voice and who need the help, support and long term security that has been taken away from them. We ask that you consider what it is like for someone with Muscular Dystrophy, Cystic Fibrosis, etc or the aforementioned serious and chronic life long debilitating, progressive illnesses and how the stress of having to prove the illness is counter productive. It does not save the tax payer any more money.
