Tell the USDA: Support Updated Nutritional Guidelines in Schools

    1. Sponsored by

an organization in support of healthy food in schools

Roughly 40 percent of students buy a snack at school each day. Even if students eat a healthy lunch, research shows they often still consume excess calories from side dishes their cafeteria might serve, such as french fries.

Right now, the U.S. Department of Agriculture is considering updated nutritional guidelines that would make sure schools sell healthy snacks and drinks to students. But we only have until April 9 to weigh in!

So many of our students need their school meals because those are the only meals they have each day.

I wouldn't serve the food our gov't serves to our children to my dog. This is just wrong. Nothing is more important than the next generation. I can't even think about what sick adults are saving or earning money off of this, it is sickening and inhumane. Might as well be feeding them cardboard.

This is important to me because myself, as a High school student, I think its important that there are more healthful foods available in school systems. Parents trust their school system to feed healthy foods to their kids. But the thing is, most of the food there is unhealthy. I think its important for the whole country to have more healthy foods, to better our kids, and our nation.
