The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, recently came out with a report that attacks the common notion of poverty in America. They claim that because the average American can afford things like a refrigerator, air conditioning and cable television, they are not actually in poverty. (http://www.heritage.org/research/reports/2011/07/what-is-poverty)

The Heritage Foundation report also claims that the majority of Americans are well fed, they included those on Food Stamps. As of the last report, over 45.75 million Americans were receiving food stamp benefits. These benefits are an essential tool in combating hunger in America, and they serve to alleviate the financial strain on the poorest Americans. (http://www.marketwatch.com/story/record-number-of-americans-on-food-stamps-2011-08-03)

In order to challenge the findings in the Heritage Foundations report, we challenge the staff of the Heritage Foundation to live off of the average $3.00 a day food stamp recipients are allocated.

It sounds like the Heritage Foundation is just another research front for the Koch Brothers spreading false information for the benefit of few and the harm of many.

I cant afford Cable TV, Heck I don't even own a TV, and currently Im logged into a public wi-fi, (I cant afford my own internet either.) I am unfortunately stuck on the system currently, even though I have an AAS in Business, I cant find work. I get FS only for my two little girls (one is Autistic) and my disabled mother. We get nothing for myself or my husband (who is a US army Veteran.) I have to try and feed all 5 of us (and we ALL have food allergies/ special diets) on about $350 a month....I want to see them try that.

(Also I WANT to work! )

The recent onslaught of attacks against every American except for the wealthiest is anathema to the principles upon which our nation was founded, and the so-called "Heritage Foundation" [sic], is consistently among the groups at the forefront of such gross distortions of what is reality for the overwhelming number of Americans.

I relish the chance to call upon those pathetic enough to claim that $3.00 per day is sufficient for any human. And regardless of whether or not they are willing to undertake such a laughable feat, I further welcome them to just shut the #%&+ up!
