Indepth investigation of abduction & disposal of dogs in Mogappair

      Chennai, TN

We want an in-depth investigation on the heinous capture and loading of the community pets of Mogappair West Garden Area. We want to know where the dogs have been held or released and demand that they be returned to their original community at Mogappair West Garden.

On 28th July 2013, in Nolumbur, a Chennai Corporation employee abducted more than 20 community dogs in a tricycle used to collect trash. One passerby managed to click some photographs, as the employee was not in uniform and had no id on him. When asked he claimed that he had the necessary permission for transporting these dogs.

Due to the inaction of the officers at V7 Nolambur police station, we continued undaunted in attempting to discover the fate of these 22 dogs.

Prabudass, the only corporation employee we could clearly link to the crime informed us that the dogs had only been captured and moved to another area, which in itself is illegal. However, we were reluctant to believe this information as he was refusing to tell us into which area he had the dogs released.
In the meantime, the residential association had barracked the police station, threatening the police officers and the animal welfare activits and volunteers with dire consequences if they should continue to investigate this case. Unmoved by these threats, we continued in the quest to discover the fate of the poor innocents. We discovered a shocking sequence of events whereby the homeowner’s association had sanctioned to “arrange” the abduction and round up these dogs and remove them from the area.

The next day, 15 of the association people came to the V-7 Nolambur police station at 22:30 hours and told the Inspector they supported the association with the decision to abduct the dogs.

In our investigations we found only one dog remaining in the vicinity of Mogappair West Garden area. The dog was found with a wound on his head that could only have been inflicted by a rock flung at him with some force.

Most distressing is that fact that the police of V7 Nolambur police station are still unwilling to take up the case or even file an FIR as a senior former judge is a resident member of the association.

We implore every person who sees this post to please take up the ghastly atrocity as a cause worth fighting for and bring pressure upon the police to prosecute the guilty parties.

Again, we emphasize:

Please, sign this petition to force the Tamil Nadu's Director General of Police to carry out an indepth investigation on the heinous capture and loading of the community pets of Mogappair West Garden Area. We want to know where the dogs have been held and demand that they be returned to their original community at Mogappair West Garden.

Also, please call up the Nolambur Police Station on 9176528259 or 9940596447 and add your outraged voices to ours.

Please, share to as MANY PEOPLE as possible.

You will see that the number of signatures needed has been increased.

This is because we were confident the Blue Cross of India would obtain the FIR by the beginning of this week after which we would pay the necessary authority a visit, with all the signatures from this petition. Unfortunately, our efforts were unintentionally diluted due to a protest, by another group of animal-welfare volunteers. Please, find the following update by the Blue Cross of India.

It is requested that we be patient and let the Blue Cross of India find a way to reverse the damages and move on to getting the FIR with the sections that would be impose the maximum punishment for this heinous crime.

The Nolambur police have filed a FIR against members of the Association, A Ramamurthy, M Venkatraman, Govindarajan and Senthil Kumar under Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty Act.However, Blue Cross of India (BCI) officials who took up the case with the police are unhappy, saying that their original complaint has been diluted.

“We have also filed a complaint seeking an FIR under sections 428 and 419 of the Indian Penal Code, which was not taken into consideration,” said BCI general manager Dawn Williams. Police are continuing with their investigation to locate the spot where the dogs could’ve been buried.

''The Blue Cross of India is devastated to announce that we have received pictures taken in the same area on the same day as the heinous kidnapping of the community pets of Mogappair West Garden Colony. We received, from a source who refused to identify themself due to fear of repercussions aga...inst their family, pictures that were taken while the dogs of Mogappair West garden Colony were BRUTALLY BUTCHERED, quite openly in the presence of a few of the Colony’s residents. We also met with Mr. Sundar Gurusamy, who had originally exposed this barbarous deed, and he stated quite clearly that at NO POINT IN TIME had he withdrawn his statement as to the brutality of the kidnapping, and had only informed the police that the OFFICE BEARERS OF THE RESIDENTIAL ASSOCIATION had promised him that the dogs had only been...''

Why are the POLICE HIDING behind INNOCENT and probably SLAYING OF DOGS? My son is a POLICE OFFICER in the U.S. Much UNLIKE the V7 Nolambur police, he has COMPASSION towards ALL LIVING & BREATHING animals. I join the many who WANT this CRIME to be investigated NOW!

Make sure the people who are killing dogs (ANY ANIMAL for that matter) SERVE TIME BEHIND BAR FOR AT LEAST 10 TO 20 YEARS, PLUS PAY A MUCH BIGGER FINE THAN THE FIFTY RUPEES!!!
