Victory

One person can make a difference - but together, we can make a change! I want to thank everyone that joined me to stand up against slaughtering wild horses. Thanks to you, the horses that disappeared at the hands of Tom Davis may get justice! After more than 130,000 people signed my petition, Ken Salazar announced changes to the way wild horses are sold, including a limit on the number of horses any one buyer can purchase in a six-month period and telling buyers that they could go to jail if they try to sell mustangs for slaughter. Plus Colorado brand inspector investigated Tom Davis and turned his case over to the Colorado 12th Judicial District Attorney. Now, BLM spokesperson Tom Gorey says, “We've taken the idea of selling for slaughter off the table. It is not an option.” We have a victory but we still have a way to go to triumph over the cruelties against wild horses and burros. We must keep fighting to stop the cruel helicopter roundups. A BLM official admitted that they cannot schedule the next Wild Horse and Burro Advisory Board meeting because they will be too busy with roundups for the next 5 months! I am so excited about the progress we are making and I hope you will continue to stand with me in the battle to save the wild horses and burros. Together with my friends Cheyenne Rondeaux and Declan Gregg and all the other kids of the Youths’ Equine Alliance we will make a difference. And with your help, we can change the way our wild horses and burros are managed to make sure they are always known as the icon and spirit of the American West.

My name is Robin, and I'm 11 years old (that's me in this photo by Cynthia Smalley, with Thor, a mustang she rescued from government holding pens!) People call me “Wild Mustang Robin” because I want to save wild horses like Wild Horse Annie, who got the government to pass laws protecting the horses of the American West. But I'm worried that the government isn't keeping its promise.

I started this petition with my mom because we read a news report about a man named Tom Davis who bought hundreds of wild horses from the government, some for as little as $10. Now no one knows where they are. I am afraid they were killed because the article also said he supports horse slaughter and he's friends with people who are known for killing horses.

The government is supposed to be protecting wild horses, but instead they use helicopters to round them up and send them to holding facilities. The holding facilities fill up and they sell the horses to people like Tom Davis without a way to make sure the horses don't end up slaughtered.

We need to restore the basic protections that Wild Horse Annie won for horses and make sure they're not sold for slaughter. Help me tell the government to stop selling our wild horses and start protecting them.

Even though the charges didn't stick, it is still a victory that charges where considered. Before this petition, the BLM wasn't even going to investigate! http://gazette.com/state-wont-prosecute-colorado-wild-horse-buyer/article/1502609

Because Horses are a part of our history, our present & should be a part of the Future. They have just as much right to live on the earth than any other living being. It's up to Us (the people) to stand up for, be the guardians & voices for them before they are destroyed.

If ANY one can give me suggestions on how to go about becoming physically involved (lovingly tending to them, socialize them & if they must be removed from their land help make the ordeal easier while finding good forever homes.

We here have a lot of experience, knowledge, love & determination when it comes to saving the wild horses.

What we don't have is the land or the finances for such an endeavor.

So Please if anyone out there that has the love, the land and/or the finances but not the time to help Save The Wild Horses, feel free to contact Me at italianrose59@yahoo.com so we can put our heads together & come up with a way to help these poor horses. Thanks & may God Bless All who are trying to help..

Just because they are wild, doesn't mean they can be brutally treated & slaughtered inhumanely. Stop the butchery!
