This is the official petition page to show that students of UCD will not tolerate the obliteration of a sports facility under fabricated terms.

Yesterday at 7am 22nd November 2011 works began to remove the Belfield track on the UCD Campus due to proposed health and safety issues. The decision to remove the sports facility not only affects resident sports clubs of UCD, but individuals, schools and charities of the greater community in the South Dublin area.
We were given less than 21 hours notice of the closure of the sports facility, and as it stands no one has come forward to take responsibility for Tuesday morning’s action, and there has been failure to fully brief on the health and safety issues which their grounds are based on.

While we were out campaigning for signatures; UCD sneakily removed the hammer cages from the track. Absolutely devastating.

Another example of the greed and stupidity in this country. It is an absolute disgrace.

Have run on this track for the past 30 years - what about the Gold mile and running facilities for staff/students/retired staff.

I think it's important that other university students show they're solidarity with these athletes. It's a disgrace to take away they're training grounds.

UCD seems to be sacrificing its reputation to make short term savings. Why doesn't Hugh Brady start with his own salary when looking to make savings?

Because everybody should have a chance to run free.
